The PACT Panthers get shut out at Legacy. [if !supportLineBreakNewLine] [endif]

The PACT baseball team faced Legacy April 18, 2017 Legacy Christian Academy won because of errors made in the field to allow runs in by PACT. They need to minimize errors to win games in the future.

The starting pitcher was Cade Johnson, Dan Corbett relieved in the 6th inning. Jaylen Schweiger said “Cade mixed his pitches really well.” which means Cade threw different pitches to keep the batter's guessing. Coach Coleman said that “ Cade pitched a very good game and kept them off balance. He also put the ball in play when he was at the plate, and had a nice hit late in the game.” when asked who a was a outstanding player. Jordan Stone had a good bunt to move a runner from first to second and even made it to first safe. The team made crucial errors to allow runs in. They couldn’t take advantage of having runners on first and second.

The game was at Legacy Christian academy, Coach coleman said “Two errors to start the 2nd inning allowed legacy to score 3 runs. We should have been out of that inning after the first three hitters” when asked about contributing factors to the loss of the game. A couple of major things that happened was when second baseman Ben Spande made a great play to get the out a second.

Some factors during the game that caused Legacy to take advantage were errors, and failure to hit the ball which caused PACT to lose the game. Coach coleman said when asked what are major areas of improvement are “We need to execute better as a team. There was a few key bunting situations where we didn't get the bunts down. These would have given us opportunities to score. We also need to be more aggressive in the field and do a better job of making the plays when they are hit to us.”

“I personally felt like we need to clean things up on defense. I was trying to encourage my teammates on the bench, but it wasn’t enough. Man the outcome would have been way different if we just made a few simple plays. Our communication was also a contributing factor - we could have communicated better (especially on defense).” said Ben Spande.

The first innings were three up three down innings. in the second inning legacy put up three runs on errors made by PACT some of the errors were overthrows, under throws, and dropped pop flys. The 3rd inning Legacy stopped PACT with good defensive plays. In the 3rd they scored another 3 runs from more errors in the field. In the 4th and 5th inning PACT and LEgacy both held each other to no scoring innings. In the 6th inning Logan P came in and finished out the game for legacy. while Dan Corbett came in and held off Legacy from scoring more points. IN the 7th inning PACT got Legacy out asdn held them to no points. Then PACT came alive in the 7th inning. But PACT came up short and didn’t get any runs in.

The rivalry between Legacy and PACT has gone on for years. The rivalry is special because we all want to beat each other and it can get really tense on the field as well as off the field. But we are also the first to congratulate each other.

The PACT vs. Legacy game was quite a disappointment but the team will practice and get better at the errors we made this year to get better and beat Legacy next year.
