The new Beauty and the Beast is an incredible movie. They took an amazing old movie and turned into a work of art. It may be basically the same movie but it is so amazing.
So I would assume you know the story. This girl grows up in a town she hates and she wants more than her provincial life and what not. The girl's father went away for a bit on an errand. He got lost and went into a castle to get away from a storm and he was put in a dungeon. His daughter went to get him and traded places with him. She became the prisoner. She eventually fell for the master who was under a spell. The master released her to save her father.
The village found out about the beast and the girl went to warn him. They were going to kill him but the castle's staff fought them off. They both confessed their love and the spell was broken and of course they lived happily ever after. I'm sure you know. In the new movie Belle is played by Emma Watson, Beast is played by Dan Stevens, Gaston was played by Luke Evans, LeFou was played by Josh Gad, Cogsworth was played by Ian Mckellen, Lumiere was played by Ewan McGregor, and Mrs. Potts was played by Emma Thompson.
One of my favorite things is the cast. Emma Watson did an amazing job. She even sang in it. I really liked the casting for the whole movie honestly. I really like they had Josh Gad as LeFou. His character added some humor. Luke Evans did really good with Gaston and he definitely has the looks to play him.
I really like what they did to certain parts of the movie. The movie still moves from point A to B to C but how it gets there is different. In the beginning Belle's dad wasn't the same. He was more of an artist than an inventor. I honestly kinda liked this. He seemed less crazy.
After the scene where everyone sang about how weird Belle was she went to the area where they wash clothes and used a washing machine she made. The townspeople destroy it. This made Belle seem smarter and more of an outcast than she was in the first movie which I also liked. They said she is one but didn't really show much besides the fact that she was always reading.
Then later when Belle is in the castle instead of Beast giving Belle a room Lumiere does. I really didn't like this. It takes away a part where Belle can see he isn't that bad.
Another change is the magic book. It wasn't even in the first one. In this one you use it to travel to locations. Belle used it to travel to her old home. There her and Beast found out what happened to her mom. She died from the plague. Belles mom was barely talked about in the old movie. I liked that they talked about her mom but I have mixed feelings about the book. It's a whole new artifact they they just made exist.
Another big part that was changed is what happened between Belles dad and Gaston. Gaston tied him to a tree so wolves would eat him. Agathe saved him and tried to help him because he was sick. I liked this since it made Gaston look like a villain even more so than the original movie.
My absolute favorite changed in the movie were the ones around the curse. The curse was set on all the staff and there was much more emotion in it. Belle confessed her love for Beast but he didn't turn back. Then Agathe walked up the stairs and revealed she was the enchantress and saved him and took the spell off.
Everyone turned back to humans and the townspeople came to the castle. It showed that the townspeople had relations to them and that they forgot and now remember. I really liked this. It made it so much more emotional and made the movie so much better.
Some people hate the new movie. Not for obvious reasons though. A lot of people dislike it because there are some characters that are clearly gay. People got really mad about this. I think they just did that to add humor into it. They also did it to a character that seemed gay in the original. They made LeFou gay which makes sense. It’s not like he sings a whole song about how great Gaston is.
Even if you don't like Disney movies you should like this movie. I guess it was a little heavy on the romance aspect, so it's more for those into romance… but it was awesome! They took one of my favorite Disney movies and changed and made it great. You should 100% see it if you haven't yet for some reason.
