Who's the Next Who?

Wizards and magic, that could turn into time travel? Eddie Redmayne is the newest actor nerds have built a fanbase around.

Eddie Redmayne plays Newt, the main character in the Harry Potter spin-off Fantastic Beasts and right away you can tell Newt has an odd dress sense and even odder mannerisms. He carries around a briefcase that is bigger on the inside.

He’s from britain, and has that signature accent. Newt also comes across a muggle companion (non-magical folk) that follows him around as they go on adventures… Wait… Where have I heard this before?

For those you aren’t following, I’m trying to point out Doctor Who another fandom I have been part of through the years. Doctor Who follows and alien that only refers to himself as The Doctor, and so does everyone else.

He travels through space and time in a ship that’s bigger on the inside called the TARDIS. For those who are familiar with both the show and Fantastic Beasts, from what I’ve read on forums and social media, they all agree, Newt Scamander would be perfect for the role of the Doctor.

Now Doctor Who is an old show, the first episode ever aired in November 23, 1963, and is still on today. The role of the Doctor has been passed through 13 fantastic actors, each bringing a new outrageous dress sense and awkward personality.

The current Doctor is Peter Capaldi, who took the role in season 8, taking the spot of Matt Smith. Now fans are looking ahead, when Capaldi meets his end at being the Doctor and who will take his place, and many are asking for Eddie Redmayne. I haven’t seen much backlash from the fanbase on this subject, except maybe from the few that want Benedict Cumberbatch to be the 13th/14th Doctor.

Redmayne was asked this question in an interview with Nick Grimshaw, he responded, “"Would I do it? Yeah! It's a great show. I'm also a huge fan of those actors, love Matt Smith." Although BBC has not made a claim that they would be changing the Doctor’s face anytime soon and who would be up for the next role.

Not to mention as the interview went on, Redmayne did state, "It looks like a lot of work. I've spoken to Matt (Smith) and those schedules are pretty rigorous. Maybe when I'm 73." So we may not see Redmayne play the part in a while.

Maybe this will give Benedict Cumberbatch a chance to play Doctor? Maybe? Please? But if the opportunity does arise I will be ecstatic to see Eddie Redmayne walk out of the TARDIS asking his next companion to run. I wonder who will travel with him.
