Nothing More is a rock band that has slowly become more and more popular. Ever since their album titled Nothing More that was released in 2014 they have gained popularity.

Nothing More is a rock band formed in 2003 from San Antonio, Texas. The band consists of vocalist Jonny Hawkins, lead guitarist Mark Vollelunga, bassist Daniel Oliver, and drummer Ben Anderson. The band has five albums. Their albums are Shelter, Vandura, Save You/Save Me, The Few Not Fleeting, and Nothing More. A few songs off of their self-titled album even made it to the top rock charts according to Billboard.

According to an interview with Jonny Hawkins, he was a drummer in middle school when he met Mark Vollelunga. He heard him playing guitar in a dorm at church camp and said he was good and asked him if he wanted to jam and they've been playing ever since. He met Daniel Oliver through other projects and playing at church. He joined the band towards the end of high school.

Jonny Hawkins was the drummer for about eight years. In 2008 he decided to start singing because they went through a bunch of singers. They had some fill-in drummers and they finally ended up with Paul O’Brien. After a few years, Paul left the band for personal reasons and he was replaced by Ben Anderson to finish the 2015 tour.

Nothing More is considered “A powerful blend of twisty progressive rock, explosive heavy metal, and soaring, radio-ready alt-rock” by Billboard. They are a really unique band with a really unique sound. Their music is really emotional with both its sound and lyrics.

Jonny Hawkins has a very powerful voice but it's not over the top. He can be calm in his music but he can also belt out lyrics and scream as well. He has what I'd call a clean voice. It's not really raspy. I would consider ex-lead singer of Three Days Grace, Adam Gontier, to have a clean voice. For the opposite, I'd say M. Shadows from Avenged Sevenfold.

Nothing More isn't really similar to any bands. They have a unique sound. If you like bands like Disturbed, Shinedown, Starset, Breaking Benjamin, Five Finger Death Punch, Three Days Grace, Papa Roach, Rise Against, and/or Halestorm I would definitely recommend Nothing More. A lot of Nothing More fans like those bands and say they are somewhat similar.

Nothing More is an opening band for a lot of larger bands. They have opened for Cage the Elephant, Breaking Benjamin, Shinedown, and Disturbed. They also have their own concerts where it's just them performing.

Nothing More is known for their very unique performances. They have two main crowd pleasers. One they do at a lot of concerts and one was used at their older concerts. The older one they did was the four-man percussion solo. All the band members would play percussion instruments in a choreographed performance with the main drummer holding the rhythm.

The crowd pleaser they do now is called the Bassinator. They put the bass guitar on a stand and two of the members start to play it. They occasionally swing the guitar on its stand as well. Then the lead singer joins in with drumsticks and instead of strumming the guitar he hits it with the bottom of the drumsticks.

Nothing More's music is greatly inspired by philosophers like Alan Watts and the lead singer's life. According to an interview with Jonny Hawkins, the song Jenny is inspired by Jenna who is the lead singer's sister who struggles with bipolar disorder.

The song talks about her struggle and her family trying to help her. It also talks about her mother's struggle. Her mom was fighting cancer and desperately clinging to life to try to save her daughter from drugs.

In an interview with Mark Vollelunga and Daniel Oliver, they said the song God Went North was about Jonny Hawkins’ mother and her battle with cancer which she lost. Nothing More also started a campaign known as #iknowjenny. The goal was to raise awareness and money for mental illness.

If you like rock music I definitely recommend Nothing More. They are a great band and deserve to become more popular.
