Alex Myrum, or the “JV All Star,” is a Legacy/P.A.C.T. varsity ice hockey player. He has been a hockey player for 7 years along with his brother, Noah. Alex’s position is center. Center is a forward position of a player whose primary zone of play is the middle of the ice, away from the side boards. Centers have more flexibility in their positioning and are expected to cover more ice surface than any other player. Centers are ideally stronger, faster skaters who can back check quickly from deep in the opposing zone. Generally, centers are expected to be gifted passers more so than goal scorers, although there are exceptions. Alex’s season highlight of last year was scoring 11 goals in one game. His strongest asset is his stickhandling. He says he is good at getting by people with the puck.

Alex says he would like to play ice hockey after high school, and he hopes he will get some sort of scholarship for it, but he would be quite surprised if he did. He also plays soccer and golf, and this year he might play cross country. He likes hockey because he can hit things as hard as he can. He fears his team might not do so well this year because a lot of the upperclassmen were suspended, so the team would mostly be made up of younger students. His goal for this year is to actually win a game. Mr. Nyquist quoted Alex as being “energetic and talented”. Ms. Hokanson said, “Alex is a leader, and people are going to follow him,” later in the interview she said he was known to “always be smiling”.
