NFL Football fans dress up for games, they wear costumes designed as something scary, disturbing, cutesy, or weird.

The best part about October happens on the evening of the 31st. This is the day that kids of all ages walk around, starting at about 6:00 and collect candy. They knock or ring the doorbell at the house and say trick or treat when the door gets opened. They then get a handful of candy in a bucket, pillowcase, or bag that they carry around with them. They wear costumes and parents comment on the cute things they come up with. This holiday is not only for the children, though. Some lucky NFL fans get to dress up for a game. They choose a costume that supports their home or favorite team. At one of 13 games, they go dressed in this costume. The stands fill with people dressed up. This only adds to the craziness of the NFL. It is a new excuse for people to dress up and act like children. It has been a tradition for many years. They dress up as things related to their team, (right) like an interesting version of the mascot. Or if it has similar colors, it must match, right?

These ghouly and fun creatures show up every year. People love the idea and it’s a fun way for older people to celebrate the holiday. Football is a big thing in the United States, so being able to celebrate a holiday and go to a rowdy sports event, it makes the whole idea better. A poll from sports stack exchange says that “In European countries, you are not allowed to enter a stadium if you have anything, down to a shirt, scarf or hat, anything affiliated with the other team.” Here fans are kept at a distance from the other team. Security measures are rather tight here. They do this so the fans are separated. “We just want to keep fans out of danger to the complaints from the club selling tickets to the other teams’ supporters. They are just covering their behinds with a little message.” Ben Miller, a man interviewed by sports stack exchange says, “I had no idea this was the case. It makes the NFL seem very civilized by comparison.”

Although their costumes look uncivilized, it doesn’t change the fan underneath. As long as that fan is a good sport, it clearly isn’t an issue. Dressing up seems to get NFL fans excited for games. It is a fun thing to do and is a tradition. If it is this big of a deal, maybe we should do something like it for a PACT game. It would be a fun thing to do so people can show up in a costume and cheer for PACT.
