Clash Royale is a great game, easy to pick up, requires skill to get farther in the game, and has a semi-luck based system, both on getting cards from treasure chests or what cards you can play on the field during a match. The game was released on March 2nd, 2016 for both Android and Apple Devices. Clash Royale is a fun game and a great time killer!

Clash Royale is a real-time, player v player battle game that consists of you using your deck which contains 8 cards that you can switch with other cards you obtain through chests. These chests can be bought with gems (A virtual currency which can be bought or obtained through chests), or a chest which is given out for free every 4 hours, or a chest that is called the “Crown Chest” which requires that you get 10 crowns through battle to unlock it, and finally there are the chests that can be won through battle, these chests require time to be opened after being obtained.

In Clash Royale you have online battles against someone else from anywhere on earth. Each battle is 3 minutes long, and there is an extra 1 minute period of both the player’s tie at the end of the 3-minute mark. At the end of the round, if you won, you get a random amount of trophies, a couple coins, and a random chest if you have space for one. There is an in-game market where you can buy cards with the coins you collect from battles and opening chests, there are 3 random ones every single day. A common card, a rare card, and an epic card, each varying in price. On Sundays, there are two of each card which in total there’s 6 different cards to buy. Finally, there are clans you can join in Clash Royale. In clan, you can talk to your clanmates, request cards, and donate cards as well. You can also friendly battle a clan mate as well!

In Clash Royale as you gain trophies you will start to go up arenas. You start at arena 1 and work up from there. As you win more and more battles, you will start to go up in arenas. The higher the arena level, the more coins you get from a battle. As you raise in level, the content of the chests that you win will become better and you unlock new obtainable cards. As you progress through the arenas, players will get better and better, and the amount of trophies you lose will start to increase, so you need to start getting better at playing.

Probably the best thing about the game is that it’s a player vs. player type of game. It adds a lot of competition to the game; you actually have to try to win, you can’t just pick out someone weak and destroy them. The game matches you up with someone on your level and your trophy count, so each match is usually equal.

The chest system is an interesting one, there are nine different chests, each one gives you different amount of cards and coins, like the free chest guarantees at least 1 rare card and the rest can be anything else. Whereas the Epic chest (A special offer that randomly appears in the shop for 1 day) guarantees 10 epic cards, no common cards or rare cards, only epics.

A big complaint on social media with the game when it first came out is the fact that it was nothing like its “big brother” game, Clash of Clans because it had player vs. player and not a “choose what you attack and attack it” system. But people came to realize it wasn’t meant to be like Clash of Clans, it was supposed to be its own game. After some time people fell in love with the game, and I can see why they did.

Clash Royale is such a fun game, I can’t see why no one would like it. The community is nice, each round you win makes you feel like you won a war, chests bring in that lucky base factor which makes you feel amazing if you get something good. I recommend Clash Royale to anyone, it’s a great time killer and just a lot of fun!
