Powderpuff is a flag football game played entirely by high school girls. The ladies are assigned a team and are given a position and then they play some hardcore flag football.
P.A.C.T. is hosting a powderpuff football game this year to promote school spirit. They are trying to bring the school together and have a fun experience with everyone.
We haven’t had a powderpuff football game in two years. Last year we did not have one because it snowed. A lot of people at our school did not even know what powderpuff was, let alone that we were hosting one. We need to get the word out about our game to get maximum participation.
A recent poll showed that 5 out of 6 students said they would go and watch. Some boys even said they would put together a cheerleading team to add to the school spirit, and enjoyment of the event. I polled a few students from each grade, and it seems to be a thing people from every grade would be interested in watching.
The teams will be put together by grades. The freshman and the seniors will be put together on one team and they will play the sophomores and juniors. From the poll, 5 out of 6 girls said they would participate. We have some firm yes’s from a few girls in each grade, but again we need a set date before anyone can definitely say “yes”. We need a lot of participation for this event.
One major question is who will coach? Will students get a Mike Zimmer type coach? Or mad scientist on offense like Chip Kelly. Nothing is definite yet, but students are hoping Mr. Reynolds and Mr. Thompson will agree to coach the teams.
Depending on who the coaches are there might be practices, to determine positions, or they might have a meeting so as to meet your team. Since we do not know who the coaches are, there is no definite answer to what the girls will have to do before and during the game.
Student council does not have a definite answer to what the girls are going to wear. There is talk that it would be Halloween themed. There will be more answers at a later date. For more answers, head to student council.
The game will be at The Draw, right across the street from P.A.C.T. The when of the game is still undetermined. With the busy schedules of the two maybe coaches, student council is still struggling to find a date to work for both of them and Mr. Nyquist. However, Wednesday 10/24 looks like it might win.
A signup will be finalized soon - once a date is made official. Student council wants to encourage everyone to participate. Sign up will be on a first-come, first-serve basis - so sign up ASAP!
One great way to create school spirit is through the creation of traditions. If we had traditions, it would make P.A.C.T. a more unique and interesting school. This could get students more involved in the school and they would have more pride. We need your support for this game!
